The Apica Twin Ring Notebook, Most Advanced Quality
Apica Twin Ring NotebookThe Apica Twin Ring Notebook is one of my favorite Japanese notebooks, so it is no surprise that it has been one of Tokyo Pen Shop's best-selling notebooks. I first fell in love with the Apica Twin Ring at the university bookstore at Waseda University in Tokyo. Those beautiful notebooks with luxurious paper attracted me immediately, and they have been well represented in my bag ever since. Without further ado, let me count the ways:
First, the Twin ring is very compact and light, which is great for students whose ergonomic backpack straps can only provide so much relief. Tightly ruled lines on the pages let you fit more notes per page to continue the space-savings.
Secondly, the rings are light-years ahead of 'normal' spiral notebooks. The wire binding doesn't unwind at the ends due to the distinct lack of a wangy-crimp-over mess that some spiral notebooks use. Also, the rings don't stick out very far from the inside edge of the paper, so they are less susceptible to smooshage in bookbags or stacks.
Third, the pastel colors on the covers of the notebooks is very calming. Light greens and blues can help lower your stress levels, and that can make all the difference when you are tackling a task for school or work.
Finally, I still love the text on the front after all these years. It is reassuring, funny, playful, and serious all at the same time. I leave you with the text from the cover of the Apica Twin Ring Notebook:
